Welcome to Mr. Glasser’s 2011-2012 Classes!

April 30, 2009

I hope this information will be helpful to parents and students in my classes.  Please always feel free to contact me with comments or questions at peterglasser@yahoo.com.  I recommend avoiding my San Jose Unified School District e-mail account as many messages from parents and students get filtered.  You also wish to visit my link on the Pioneer High School website at http://www.sjusd.org/pioneer/high/school/staff/C7853.

Please note that there are four tabs across the top of this page; please be sure you are accessing the information relevant to your particular class.  Each page contains my best advice to attain the most success in class: staying organized; doing well on homework; and maximizing scores on our tests, projects and essays.  Also, among the information in this website is answers to commonly asked questions regarding my on-line gradebook in Pioneer’s PIV.  Please consult the tab for your particular class to find answers regarding the grade reports you see on line.

The information contained in this website also refers you to many helpful files posted on my download page.  After you read the information relevant to your class on this website, I invite you to visit my download page at http://www.sjusd.org/pioneer/high/school/staff_info/C8209

Students looking for National Honor Society applications should go to this download page and access the file “NHSApp.pdf”

The following is a summary of materials relevant to Mr. Glasser’s classes that you can access on the download page:

For 9th grade Geography, please see “9thGreen,” our class green sheet of policies and further advice for success.

For US History, the most useful files are as follows: “USGreen” is our class green sheet, our class policies and further advice for success.  “USYear” is our course outline for the school year, giving n overview of each thematic unit.  The files named “USUnitOut#” are our unit outlines that we use daily.  They are students’ best friends for staying organized, preparing for exams and essays, and succeeding in class overall!  Please refer to the information on this website for advice in how to maximize their use.

Advanced and more curious students may also find these files useful: the files named “USUnitEQs#” are our essential questions for each unit. “USChronEQs” lists our essential questions for the course in chronological order.  The files named “USUnit#XC” are our extra-credit unit outlines that include enrichment possibilities for advanced students.  As these are not the versions of the unit outlines we use each day in class, it is vital that students and parents instead use the files named “USUnitOut#” if they are looking for our unit outlines required for class.

The files that begin “Stand…” detail the three sets of standards that form the basis for our course.

For AP US History the files that begin “APBN…” are our board notes for each unit.  The files that begin “APGQ…” are our guide questions for textbook readings for each unit.  Please see the “AP US History” tab on this website for information as to how to use the board notes and guide questions to maximize student success.

Please also see “APUSGreen” for our course policies and further advice for success.

For History Period XX, please see  “HisxxPlan,” an index of all of our essential questions and course outline for the entire school year (very helpful in studying for tests and preparing projects and essays) and “HisxxGreen,” our class green sheet of policies and further advice for success.
